Famed as one of the most historical cultural processions in the world, held in honour of Lord Buddha, the Kandy Esala Perahera is a pageant that displays many of our traditional customs. Known as the festival of the Tooth, this procession is held annually in full grandeur with fire dances, traditional dances, and even majestic elephants swaying to the drum beats.

You can book tickets through Lakpura to witness the Kandy Esala Perahera and experience the local culture and traditions. Once the booking is done through us, you can request a specific location to view the procession, but the request will be considered upon availability of the seats. If not, seats will be booked at any of the below-mentioned locations.

Experience:

The Kandy Esala Perahara is a historical procession that brings together an amalgamation of tradition, religion, arts, and culture. The festival of the Tooth is a celebration of devotion to the Lord Buddha, and it is considered one of the oldest and grandest of all Buddhist festivals. Held in the month of Esala (July/August), the procession consists of many traditional dancers, musicians, singers, acrobats, fire dancers, lantern bearers, and even majestic tuskers and elephants accompanying them in large numbers. It’s a spectacular event that will surely leave you in awe.

Conditions:

All kandy esala perahra seat sales are subjected to following terms and conditions.

• All sales are final and no refunds. Full payment to be made with reservation – no credit facilities.
• Be at the respective locations at the given time (17.00 hrs) and for day perahera (14.00 hrs).
• Every Guest is covered by a Public Liability Insurance policy.
• We would not be responsible for sudden change of routes for security reasons but would arrange seats on the routes announced by the Sri Dalada Maligawa.
• The starting time of the Perahera depends on their auspicious time of the Sri Dalada Maligawa, which would be notified at that time.
